New D.I.Y Flash Diffuser

May 16, 2015 by Lu Leave a Comment

I have been trying to sort out the lighting in my photos for a while now. Playing around with a few setups to try and reduce the harsh highlights in my macro photos so far has not worked. Recently i discovered the amazing work of  a macro photographer called Matt Cole and he kindly shows you on his site how to make a nice simple d.i.y flash diffuser so i thought id give it a try.
The diffuser was pretty simple to make and looks something like this;

After building it i quickly nipped in the garden for ten minutes to test it and was really pleased with the soft light it created and minimal highlights!

Hers an Anthomyiidae fly taken with the new diffuser.

A few more tweaks and trials and i think il have some flashed light im happy with . For more D.I.Y diffuser s check here on another intresting blog post i found there are loads of setups to look at.
